Stay The Course, Stan

That's a heck of an off-field operation you're running, too.

Someone -- before I go postal -- please tell me something this organization does right. Just one thing!

  • They can process credit card transactions with "convenience charge" and Ticketron markup included, natch, very quickly. About as quickly as Kearns can hit into a double play.

  • Dammit if they don't make the best strawberry jam in 3 counties.

  • Briskets!

  • I haven't found the jam stand.

and have you seen the price of the brisket?

    Nice try though, guys!

Where did I put my rifle?

  • Best draft in baseball.

We have stockpiled the minors with pitching.

We are making large inroads back into the DR and Central America.

We've trimmed Dimitri's diet back to a single Kansas Wheat Belt a day.

    Manny Acta.

    All good things.

  • Sure.

    Nope. Not falling for it.

Nope. Not falling for it. Better sure, but I'll believe it once we start seeing it.

    True!

    Very good!

  • I bought tix at the box office for last friday's game. I had to tell the lady at the window what to type into her computer so she could get me the section I wanted. Apparently she wasn't aware that there is a section 109 L and 109 U.
She thanked me afterwards, but still, it's a little sad that I knew more about her job than she did.

  • Hey man, we have Mock, O'Connor and Clippard down there. That's a lot of great arms.

I was making a joke, and in the end made myself cry...

  • My bitterness is preventing me from reading sarcasm! ;)

  • Hey, the P-Nats have won 10 in a row. And Detwiler goes tonight. Those count for something.

  • the Playstation Area and the Red Porch sure are pretty!

  • I have been to cities that have bad baseball teams. The fans there get bitter, and cling to things like the potential prospects in their minor league system, and the failure of the concession stands and ticket offices to meet minimum standards of competence -- such as not letting you know where the fecking kettle corn is. You just need the audacity of hope to see you through the dark times until you reach the glorious future -- when and if it ever arrives.

  • Lockwood:

You're are quite right. We only go after Bowden because we are impatient for the glorious future of Desmond, O'Connor and Larry Broadway. Oh the fun we shall have and the trophies we shall win!

  • Simon, you're right on, just don't say bitter. YES WE CAN.

From what I hear Nats Stadium is better than the Big O in Montreal, where my favorite team used to play.

Also, we're not providing the rest of baseball with All-Stars anymore (Walker, Vlad, Pedro, Grudz, Wetteland, Alou, Barrett, Cabrera, Grissom, Gagne etc.).

  • Don't forget Sizemore...

  • -Nationals Park does not have "that smell" that used to pervade much of RFK.

-The people behind the counters may be clueless in some cases, but they're a lot nicer than the people at RFK.

    -Cupholders!

  • My old usher at RFK let me sit in the President's box section for a game! and we clapped and cheered and made all those other people down there aware that there was a ballgame going on .. Even though we lost it was a great view and a great time.
Be nice to your ushers, good things can happen...

  • I think its one of the finest foodcourts I have ever visited.
And you can watch a baseball game, too.
In fact, lately I've been calling it "the Food Court" since it doesn't seem to have a catchy name of its own.

  • We have the heaviest 25/40 man roster in baseball. That HAS to count for something.

By Blogger DCPowerGator, at 4/17/2008 2:43 PM

  • Has anyone researched the correlation between average player weight and wins?
I'd love to see the results.

  • Ticket discipline has improved.

By Blogger Steven, at 4/17/2008 9:06 PM

  • I mean "improved."
