Stadium Relocation Guide

They've finally posted it.

There's tons of info, which they're supposedly mailing within the next month or so.

In the meantime, here's the guide, with plenty of info about the suites and boxes most of us can't afford. One one of those pages is a schematic with the many different prices. The average 'cheap' seat is about $17, which is in line with current prices. The upper deck down LF and RF has $10 seats, and way down in LF, there are $5 day-of-game seats in two sections. And if you missed it the first time, the 3D guide with views from your seats, is here.

  • Chris, are you still planning to sit in the $10 seats in the right field terrace?

I like the price and the view, but the sun will be shining brightly upon us (or baking us -- whatever sounds better)

  • My gut instinct is the upper deck down the 3B line, primarily because of that.

  • Sorry to be a killjoy but am i the only one who thinks the new stadium, from what we've seen so far, just looks-i dunno-kinda dull? I mean, take away the Nats logos, etc., is there any distinctive feature that says "this is Washington, DC?" Besides the two huge OF parking garages(!) and the view of the Capitol which you can apparently only see if you're in the last row of the upper deck. I'm just not feeling it yet. Hope it's not the baseball equivalent of FedEx Field ie, no character. Hopefully i'll be proven wrong. The prices are okay though.

  • Some of the pictures I've seen show Cherry Blossoms lining the pavilion just outside the stadium (I think), which is obviously supposed to be evocative of the city.

Of course they will only be in full bloom for about the first week of the season, but still.

  • A quick analysis of the options.

If you want relatively cheap (and I realized nothing we're talking about is truly cheap) seats or really, reallyi fancy corporate seats you do pretty well in the new park. Reasonable number of cheaper seats - as long as you have no interest in sitting close to the field. Lots of FANCY seats with lots of benefits - as long as someone else is paying.

However, if you're an individual (or group of individuals) who has stretched to afford good seats at RFK, well, you're out of luck. The good (ok, very good) lower level seats have gone from $30-$40 in price to $50-$60 in price. Ouch!!!!!!!

I don't think the park will be anything really special, like Camden Yards or the Pittsburgh stadium, but it looks perfectly nice and sounds like it will have all the modern amenities.

  • What in the world is with that huge baseball? What an eyesore!

  • I guess SF already had the big glove, so we had to have .. the big baseball. whopee.

Looking at the 3-D images, what's the deal with the Centerfield Lounge section? There seems to be a huge space between each row. Is the idea that you will eat so much food sitting in these seats (each ticket has a $20 food and beverage credit) that you'll need the extra space to spread out?

  • As other people have said in other fora, the huge baseball is probably a placeholder for some grotesque corporate sponsorship symbol. Giant gekko or caveman maybe?
