  • Dude, get some perspective. It's just one blown save... it happens. Coming into tonight, he had the best ERA on the Nats of all pitchers who had 30 IP or more. Overall, he's been pretty good since he came back from the bereavement list. Wasn't even that bad a pitch that led to the home run.

  • I just emailed Jimbo asking for Logan's immediate departure. Those kind of plays get you back to AAA in a hurry when your on the edge as it is.

  • Acta must be held accountable here. Acta made Logan the starting CF before the first day of Spring Training (dumb move). He keeps putting him out there (stupid move) and will do his Zen thing and focus on the positive hitting (extreme denial) that got Logan on base

Acta is killing the Nats by playing Lopez and Logan, he must show leadership and admit these two have played themselves out of the lineup.

  • Wow, can't believe I find myself almost agreeing with JayB. When I saw Belliard coming out on the field, I thought he was coming in to replace FLop, not Dmitri, since FLop had been jawing with the ump before that over a strike call and damn near got himself tossed. The home plate ump was pretty lenient on that score tonight, since he also let an Indian get away with arguing balls and strikes earlier in the game. But Manny needs to learn that it doesn't make sense to put in defensive replacements for two of your best bats (Dmitri and Church) when you only have a two run lead - especially against a hard-hitting AL team like the Indians. This is not the first time he's been burned by taking his big bats out and putting in the likes of Fick and Logan as "late inning defensive replacements" this year. I can only hope tonight is the last time he does this.

Logan I expect to be gone the day that Fick returns, if not before. He'd better be, even if Watson goes 0 for the rest of his at bats between now and then. Logan has absolutely nothing to offer this team except for speed. And speed is no good without a brain behind it, which Logan obviously doesn't have.

  • Let's hope Jim gets your memo this time...

  • I have to think this latest blunder provides all the justification needed to cut Logan. The couple of good games by Watson don't mean much, but are timed well to allow Bowden to give the "Nook had his chance" speech while claiming that Watson showed he deserves the job.

And everyone should remember that this is not a mob which formed over a week or so. We all had our doubts about Logan from Spring Training on, and the claims of his great defense (and hints at baserunning skills) have been proven false.

  • dont forget watson had a bonehead play of his own popping out a bunt. and he would still be the worst starter if it became his CF. the obvious issue here is signing andruw jones next season.

  • facekdr, "popping out a bunt" is not a "bonehead play". It's a failure to execute. There's a BIG difference between a failure to execute and a bonehead play. Logan made a bonehead play, and it wasn't the first time for him either. He's got to go. Watson may only be a marginal improvement, but he is an improvement until a real centerfielder can be picked up in the offseason.

  • All I can say to Logan is FUKUdome - the man who (could be) replacing him in centerfield next year.

  • Dear Nook:

I've transcribed Charlie Slowes' play-by-play call of your baserunning blunder. Treasure it - it's the last play of your Washington Nationals career!

"Now the set, here’s the pitch… Swing and a GROUNDBALL! Flagged by Borowski! He throws home, and that’s all they’ll get.

"… Now ROUNDING THIRD, Logan!?! WHAT IS HE DOING?

"The throw to third - He’s out and the game is over!

"WHAT was Nook Logan THINKING? WHAT was he WATCHING? WHERE was he GOING?

"I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! He’s out, it turns out to be a double play, and the game is over!

    (7 seconds of silence)

    "THAT is shocking. Unbelievable!"

  • While we're shipping out Logan, assign Traber to carry his bags to the airport. King is one borderline lefty in the pen. We don't need two. Best case scenario: Bascik becomes the second lefty in the 'pen and Billy Bomb heads west...
