A Pleasant Evening

Eating grilled chicken and macaroni salad while sitting on my balcony and sipping a gin and tonic.... Watching a few episodes of the Sopranos on DVD (it's some series I just picked up; have you heard of it?)... Walking around a lake near my apartment, watching the animals -- beavers, frogs, raccoons, turtles -- on a perfectly comfortable evening... A big bowl of ice cream when I get back. What could be better?

Did I miss anything?

This whole "It's not worth your time to care til we get our new stadium" culture that the front office has perpetuated has been one of the best things ever!

  • You missed a good drink. Man, I hate gin. Of course I love birch beer, so my tastes may be a bit askew.

Wake me when Chris Marrero is on the team...

  • Nothing wrong with a good birch beer.

It makes a damn good ice cream float.

    (Go with Philly Vanilla. Mmmm!)

  • "Sopranos?" Is it about music? Opera? I'm a big opera fan and good DVD's are hard to find. Please let me know where you picked it up.

BTW, I'm looking forward to Thursday's game. Go Nats!

  • No. Strangely it's about a small-time new jersey mafia family.

Apparently it was on cable or something.

    New to me!

  • Is it just me, or did the Detroit series bear more than a passing resemblence to that horrid Colorado series last year when we got swept at home just as the team seemed to be turning a corner toward respecatability.

I know the Tigers are way better than us, but sheesh.

  • bdrube, I would say the Tigers series bears more resemblance to the series last year against the Red Sox, when we ran headlong into a powerful AL team and were drubbed 11-3, 6-3 and 9-3. The only difference would be that the Red Sox series was in Fenway whereas the Tigers series was in RFK - so maybe this one feels just a bit more painful being that it happened at home. There really haven't been any series yet this year that have just been handed to another team that is really not all that great, like the Colorado series last year. I'd say that's a positive sign for this year's team.

  • ABM: Very good point!

    It's early though! ;)

  • Chris, yes you're right, it is early still. And I suppose to be fair I do need to say that indeed we have actually given away two series this season to less than stellar opponents without a fight. Specifically, the Marlins and D'backs series that started off the season. But we try not to think about those...

  • While watching the Nats fall apart once again,[I've gone to every game this year] my sister and I did a statistical analysis of the President's race. We found out that the Nats have a better chance of winning if George wins -- almost 2-1. For later analysis we will include if the card wins in the 1-2-3 slot. Of course, statistically the Nats have a better chance of winning if they aren't at RFK.
