Bye Nook. Hello Kory
Nook Logan is headed to the DL. He'll miss 2-3 weeks with a strained foot.
In his place comes Kory Casto -- not to be confused with Cory Kasto or the Kori Bustard.
Everyone raved about Casto's spring. He hit pretty well, .280/ .368/ .340, which probably isn't too far off what we could expect this season. He's got a decent batting eye, and a line drive swing. He's not going to hit for much power -- likely less than either Church or Snelling. But the team is really high on him, and wanted to keep him, so he'll get first crack.
Although his raw minor league stats look just so-so, the Eastern League is a pretty tough place to hit, and he did finish fourth in the league in OPS, while leading in walks.
It'd be nice if he were right-handed, but...
Presumably Church takes over center. And I can't imagine that they'd call up Casto unless he was going to start, so Chris Snelling stays stapled to the pine. Would he be the backup CFer or would they slide Austin Kearns (he of the 17 fewer knee surgeries) over?

That bird is my dawg! Yeah, it can't hold a bat, but it can cover a hell of a lot of ground.

Free Snelling! The guy can hit, and he is healthy. The Nats are making a serious error by burying him on the bench.
