Today's Radio Rumors Are Brought To You By

WTOP is in play, which is weird because, they made a big deal about dumping the Orioles a few years ago, because of the importance of keeping their programming local, especially as rush-hour traffic extends well past first pitch. They've found the work-around though: only putting the team on one of its frequencies.

See Basil's blurb for all the good stuff.

  • It is noteworthy that this isn't the full WTOP treatment proposed here; it's just 1500-AM, which is apparently highly directional. We'd own the all-important Icelandic market, though. ;-)

  • I can actually get WTOP in better at my home north of Albany in NY, than I can here some nights.

And strangely enough, in NY, it's usually a clearer signal than WFAN is.

  • I'm rooting for WTOP over WJFK. WJFK fades out continuously where I live (@3 miles from the White House). WJFK's antenna must consist of a coat hanger on top of a garage.

With WJFK we'd also have to listen to a Howard Stern plug every half-inning. Go WTOP.

  • My greatest fear with JFK would be the involvement of Larry Michael(s).

If he and Rob Dibble hooked up... ugh. I don't even wanna think about that.

I can feel my blood pressure rising now!
