Renewable Sources

The Nats gave contracts to three more players on their 40-man roster: JJ Davis, OF; Josh Karp, RHP; and Danny Rueckel, RHP.

Of the three, only Davis has a chance to make an impact this year.

Davis was acquired earlier this offseason from the Pirates probably will make the 25-man roster as a 4th or 5th outfielder. The Post thankfully points out that, with a good spring, he could push Endy Chavez in center.

Rueckel's got a chance to make an impact in a year or two. He had an excellent season in the minors last year, showing good control and an ability to avoid the gopher ball.

Karp just hasn't progressed. He spent two season at AA-Harrisburg and pitched steadily, but not spectacuraly. He was hit pretty hard last year at AAA-Edmonton. He definitely needs more work in the minors and to show some improvement.
