Tonight's The Night

It's Time.

Way back in October 2004, I started writing the blog, not really knowing what to expect, and certainly not expecting that it would get to be as big (relatively speaking) as it is, nor would it have given me some of the opportunities it has.
I started for two simple reasons.

First, I wanted an outlet for my writing. My day job has me doing lots of godawful writing. Heretofores. Whereases. Convoluted clauses that wrap around themselves. It's not a particularly fun type of writing, and I wanted something that I'd enjoy more. Something a bit more conversational. I didn't want to be stuck writing that boring way for the rest of my life. I wanted an outlet.

Second, I didn't want to bore my girlfriend to tears. I didn't know a heck of a lot about the Expos. Writing about them would help me to learn, to help me discover the team. As I learn things, I want to share them. Rather than boring her with details about Brad Wilkerson and TJ Tucker, I wrote about them here.

But things change. I've done plenty of writing these last few years. Lord knows how many books I've essentially written. And finding new things to say is tough. (I'd say 'interesting' things, too, but that'd imply that half my posts were!)

It's time to move on.

Thanks to everyone for reading. Thanks for all the comments -- even the stupid ones! And a special thanks to the friends I've made along the way, something I certainly didn't expect when I put fingers to keyboard three-and-a-half years ago. But that's definitely been the most rewarding thing.

I'll still be at the game, eating my chili nachos. I'll still be reading and watching obsessively. I'll still be yelling at the wins, and yelling louder at the losses -- oh, the losses! Let's just hope that, in the future, those become increasingly less common!

  • Say it ain't so! Say it ain't so!

But, if it is so, thanks for the years of great coverage of the Nats. You'll be missed.

  • Oh Chris...

...do take a bow, your blog was a joy to read, and I'm glad it's been here. Thanks for all the hard work :)

By Blogger Tom Bridge, at 5/06/2008 11:31 PM

  • Wow, just when we're turning the ship around? Thanks for all the great work, Chris.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/06/2008 11:31 PM

  • Not that we as readers can complain considering you do it for free and in your spare time, but it's a shame you're giving it up. This has been hands down my favorite nationals blog to read and has helped pass lots of monotonous hours at my own job.

Thanks for the great insight and humor over the years. Everyone will miss the stanspeak translator come winter meetings.

By Anonymous OC Pike, at 5/06/2008 11:31 PM

  • Stan, got to you didn't he?

    Dammit.

Who do I steal from now?

By Blogger Harper, at 5/06/2008 11:45 PM

  • Going out on top. I know you were gunning for the Post's Blogger of the Month title since you entered the blogosphere years ago. Now that you have it, the thrill of the chase is gone. I understand.

Where can I go now to rant about the Nats? (Seriously, any suggestions?)

    Thanks for all the time.

By Anonymous Will, at 5/06/2008 11:46 PM

  • Thanks Chris. Given I live overseas and never get to really see a Nats game, your blog has truly been my "link" to the Nats. I have a boring job and reading and chatting here helps me pass the day, so I ain't happy, but I understand! My girlfriend doesn't really get why I wake up and check your blog everyday, so now I guess I can sleep in!

By Anonymous Gus, at 5/06/2008 11:46 PM

  • Oh no! I've found it pretty fun to read you and SBF for your complementary perspectives, if you will.

Chris, I'll miss your sense of humor.

By Anonymous dcbatgirl, at 5/07/2008 12:00 AM

  • Chris, what was it? A torn rotator cuff in the typing shoulder or just a dead arm? I've been a professional sports writer for nearly 40 years. Guaranteed, you have more style, flair and knowledge than 99 percent of the guys and ladies in the business. Live well, keep chowing down on those nachos and keep laughing. You're the best!

By Anonymous Friend of STAN, at 5/07/2008 12:09 AM

  • Oh No!
Other than your irrational hatred of Robert Fick I have enjoyed your blog to no end. Thanks for all the great insights and hope you keep writing!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/07/2008 12:24 AM

  • Dear Chris,

I hope that this turns into either a long hiatus, or into a more casual rate of posting, and that you won't quit altogether. I suspect that at some point, Stan or Bowden will say something so incredibly stupid or convoluted, you will have no choice but to chime in here again.

I'll check back once a month just in case.

If you never grace us with more of your acidic prose ever again, however, thanks indeed for the memories!

  • just wanted to add my own two cents and say just how much i've enjoyed reading. this blog was great and i'll really miss it!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/07/2008 12:30 AM

  • Chris,

Hope you don't disappear forever...your blog was one of the most interesting in the Natosphere. Alot of people don't realize how much work there is to blogging and I understand your reasons for taking a break. I just hope it's just that.

If not...good luck and see you at the ballpark.

By Blogger NatsNation, at 5/07/2008 12:46 AM

  • Dear Chris, I feel sorry I discovered your blog only late last year, but fortunate for the short time that I did get to read your work. There is no doubt that your blog is the best out there on the Nats -- your statistical analysis is unparallelled, and your writing is graceful and humorous. Honestly, you're one of the few writers who makes me laugh out loud on a regular basis -- your rags on Mike Bacsik and Robert Fick are classic. And I particularly enjoyed your week in review (maybe you could just continue those posts -- once a week wouldn't be so bad, right?) and also your collection of video clips to show that Ryan Zimmerman is actually the best fielding third baseman in the league.

So would you ever consider a change in profession? The WP should hire you as a columnist. Maybe you'd shame Boz into writing more about the Nats, and with a little more skepticism about the owners.

Please don't feel ashamed to come back if you miss us and much as we'll miss you.

By Blogger Section 222, at 5/07/2008 1:18 AM

  • Chris...

    Well done. Thanks much.

    Jim

By Blogger Jim H, at 5/07/2008 1:37 AM

  • Goddamnit, I was waiting for "the way we was" from last week. Where the hell am I going to for that kind of simple, awesome analysis? This place? Fat chance.

Seriously, your posts were the best thing in the Natosphere, bar none. You'll be missed.

By Anonymous hb, at 5/07/2008 1:57 AM

  • Chris,

I hope that all of these comments don't run together and lose their impact on you. You've made a huge difference to most of that follow the Nats, and we could never really thank you or repay you for all of your efforts. You were the main place for my Nats' coverage and you will be missed.

    Thank you.

By Anonymous Mike, at 5/07/2008 2:29 AM

  • Please don't tell us you're following Barry Svrluga and setting up a Redskins Blog.

    By Anonymous Sec314, at 5/07/2008 6:56 AM

  • Thanks for your coverage. Where would we have been without a Stanspeak translator, or some of the counterintuitive statistical analysis?

Like everyone else, I hope this is a well-deserved break, and not the end. The Natosphere has been a big part of my enjoyment of the Nats, and this blog has been a big part of it.

By Anonymous Arl, at 5/07/2008 7:01 AM

  • Nooooooooooo!

Please say it ain't so. You're my and many others' favorite Nats blogger, and have been for years. You've brought great baseball sense and statistical analysis, your own brand of wit, and an obvious deep love for the team day after day. Could you at least take us out with one last weekly wrap? I was wondering where it was!

Anyway, I wish you well and would love it if the Post were to hire you as a columnist. But I know how these things can eat up a lot of real life, so I understand, even if I and many others will miss you.

Thanks for sharing your writing all these years.

By Blogger cass, at 5/07/2008 7:13 AM

  • Awww man! Now where will I be able to get my information about little known convoluted stats such as WARP and the Pythagorean record!

In all seriousness it was a pleasure to read.

    Cheers!

By Blogger Kyle, at 5/07/2008 7:29 AM

  • So the best Nats blog is going dark. A sad day.

Over the last couple of years I've found this has become my "go-to" Nats site for its combination of snark and serious analysis. I know I'll still be able to get the info I crave, but it'll take a lot more winnowing out of rah-rah and cliched jokes from several sites.

You will be missed. Here's hoping you catch the spark again, at the very least as a guest commentator on another Nats blog.

By Anonymous ghostofwadelefler, at 5/07/2008 7:54 AM

  • Chris, thanks for all your hard work. I'm really going to miss this blog. It was my only Nationals stop.

I guess it was inevitable, but thanks, Chris.

By Blogger Rage, at 5/07/2008 8:05 AM

  • Alright, this sucks, but godspeed - you've done great, great work here.

By Blogger JP, at 5/07/2008 8:10 AM

  • Chris - Thanks for all of your hard work. There is no question that the Natosphere is going to sincerely miss you

By Blogger Brian, at 5/07/2008 8:30 AM

  • Chris, this has been my favorite Nats blog - the one I need to check every day -- so I will miss your funny, insightful work.

If you can figure out a way to get paid for doing this sort of stuff, let us all know. We'll be there.

By Anonymous Rich NWDC, at 5/07/2008 8:41 AM

  • Chris, Thanks for all of your hard work. This blog is a must read and I will miss it. Stan and Jim may not, but the rest of us will.... I'll have some chili nachos in your honor on Friday.

    By Blogger Natsfan74, at 5/07/2008 8:51 AM

  • NO WAY!!! HUH? WHA?

OK I'm just now in total denial. I'm not listening to what you are saying.

    See you tomorrow.

By Blogger Steven Biel, at 5/07/2008 9:04 AM

  • Chris,

Sorry to see you go. I always enjoyed your writing, and will miss it.
http://gnatsgnation.blogspot.com can pick up your slack on the snark, but no idea who can mix in the stats like you did. Good luck on your future endeavors.

    By Blogger Phishisgr8, at 5/07/2008 9:10 AM

  • Thanks for your insights and snarky comments that made your blog readable. You should be proud that you did not follow the sycophantic path to free swag and special tours of the stadium... Good luck with the rest of your career...

By Blogger flippin, at 5/07/2008 9:12 AM

  • Thanks for the insights, snarky comments and all around good times, you'll be missed.

By Blogger Scott, at 5/07/2008 9:13 AM

  • Understandable, but it sucks to lose the best of the Nats blogosphere. See you around the ballpark sometime.

By Blogger Carl the Big Fool, at 5/07/2008 9:16 AM

  • Seriously, the Post would be idiotic not to offer you at least a once a week column. Given their total lack of baseball columnists (Boz is a stadium critic, not a baseball columnist), what could be more obvious? Tell me you wouldn't do it for a little coin, a lot more exposure, a lot less work, a press pass...

By Blogger Steven Biel, at 5/07/2008 9:18 AM

  • Chris,

This really sucks. But I hope you don't mind that I'm floating a rumor that you're taking some time off before taking over for Svrluga over at Nationals Journal? Wishful thinking...

You will be missed. Take care...

By Anonymous The Nationals Enquirer, at 5/07/2008 9:23 AM

  • Wow....that's really too bad. You had the best Nats blog by a long shot. When BallWonk was active, he was competition for you, but you outlasted him. You'll be missed.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/07/2008 9:29 AM

By Anonymous Dick, at 5/07/2008 9:30 AM

By Blogger Bill, at 5/07/2008 9:39 AM

  • Chris, I'll agree with all the others that yours was the #1 Nats blog. Sad to see you go. Now I'll need to find another blog for the prized spot on my Links toolbar. On the upside, ABM won't have the opportunity to make my blood boil with troll-like comments here anymore.

    I can't quit you ...

    By Anonymous e, at 5/07/2008 10:15 AM

Do you have an heir perhaps? Or a favorite other blog to recommend? A methadone to your smack?

Will you be updating "What to Read Today?"

    Blurg.

I do not accept your resignation.

    Sorry.

    See you tomorrow.

ps - Seriously, this blog was so good Svrluga referenced it regularly. It may seem silly, but your perspective was critical to Nats Nation. You will be missed.

By Anonymous Barry Svrluga, at 5/07/2008 10:24 AM

  • On second thought . . .

Given the timing of your post, was it just that Colome, Rivera and Ayala drove you over the edge last night? Totally understandable that you would immediately retire in a fit of rage.

Feel free to pull an (eventual) Favre and get back in the game anytime.

By Anonymous WebberDC, at 5/07/2008 10:24 AM

  • How dare you. I've been bitching and moaning for days that I don't have a "nats week in review" post to greet me on monday.

Our long nationals nightmare has just begun. Have you no shame? At long last, sir, have you no sense of decency? Children will cry themselves to sleep tonight for what you've done.

By Anonymous aaron, at 5/07/2008 10:35 AM

  • Saul Rivera has just balked me into being the new occupant of this base. How's that for y'all's worst nightmare?

Seriously, though, as a failed blogger myself I appreciate what you've done here over the past several years, Chris. Whether I agreed or disagreed with what you were writing, it was always a good read. Your chain was always eminently worth yanking, if for no other reason than you always having the cojones and the smarts to yank it right back with an even better retort. (If only that were also true of the majority of the peanut gallery here, but alas...)

Anyway, whereas heretofore you'll no longer have this outlet, I hope for your girlfriend's sake at least that you quickly find another outlet for your own unique brand of je ne sais quos. Meanwhile, know that you'll be missed. And, as they say at Nationals Park each and every time Stan separates you from some of your money, enjoy the game!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/07/2008 11:48 AM

  • Chris, It's been said 59 times now (and counting), but I too wish to express my gratitude and best wishes with your retirement from the Natosphere. Your withdrawal will create a black hole that will take much effort to fill.

and as much as your insightful posts inform and entertain, i especially valued your tireless effort in posting links to other information. it was a daily resource i used in preparation for whatever i may have been writing about on my blog and website.

who is going to do my research now?!?

    I'll certainly miss your work.

What occurred to me after the disappointment was the fact that ESPN and others will have to find a new go-to guy for season previews. Have at it, contestants! One of you has to kick up the quality and/or quantity to match what Chris provided these past several years.

By Blogger Positively Half St., at 5/07/2008 12:25 PM

  • Yours was the best Nats blog because of Stan Speak and because you never wore rose color glasses like most other bloggers do. Now, what are we going to do to keep Elmer Fudd and the cheapo Lerners in line?? Thanks for all your hard work and excellent writing.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/07/2008 12:48 PM

    That's weird.

Now I might have to revert back to Met fandom since the only good blogs out there are Blastings! Thrillegde and Metsgeek.

I suppose I could become a Mariners fan though...

By Blogger Drew, at 5/07/2008 1:04 PM

  • Wow. What a shocker!! Having been out of town on business--I missed the big announcement. I have always been impressed with your dedication and banter. Many would say we are the exact opposites, but deep down I know we are both dedicated fans of Washington's Baseball Team. You have been quite the read and made me laugh many times. When I first started realizing that fans were writing blogs about The Nationals--you were the very first one I started to read on a regular basis. And still have--to this very day. I understand your decision, but I wanted to let you know that I will miss reading your voice--daily.

Good Luck in your near and long term future.

  • Well, well. Another wannabe faces up to reality. I'm sure it must be a bitch looking in that mirror every morning and realizing, "I'm just no Boz Thomwell, as hard as I try and as much as I nip at his heels."

That last attempted shot across my bow that fell harmlessly short must have been the last straw. As many before you have found, it's true what they say: If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

Here's to lives of quiet desperation and delirious delusions of grandeur...all for the want of the big time. LOL!

By Anonymous Boz Thomwell, at 5/07/2008 6:16 PM

  • BOOO! Write for my enjoyment, damn you!

I'm sure you'll be back, so enjoy the time off. And to join in the chorus -- thanks. ;)

  • Thank you Chris.....I hope we get the SS you did such a great job advocating for.....too bad Jimbo does not like defense. Did you seem Milledge last night?

By Blogger JayB, at 5/07/2008 7:16 PM

  • This is a sad day. Chris, you were the best! I hope you change your mind. Thanks for all the good reads and thanks especially for Stan Speak.

By Anonymous phil dunn, at 5/07/2008 7:39 PM

  • My employers thank you, but I'm devastated. This blog was such a big part of my day.

Thanks, Chris. I've read every post you've written, and you've really deepened my enjoyment of the game. I owe you a huge debt.

If I ever meet you at the park, the chili nachos are on me.

Time to start looking for a new homepage.

  • Oh, I forgot to ask: can I buy your StanSpeak(TM) translator?

By Anonymous The Nationals Enquirer, at 5/07/2008 8:47 PM

  • Here's my ChrisSpeak translator:

It's Time TO GO BACK TO ROOTING FOR THE YANKEES CUZ I CAN'T TAKE THIS CRAPPY ASS TEAM ANYMORE.

Way back in October 2004 WHEN I THOUGHT THERE WAS EVENTUALLY GOING TO BE SOME POINT TO FOLLOWING THE NATIONALS, I started writing the blog, not really knowing what to expect, BUT NEVER THINKING THE NATIONALS WOULD BE AS RELENTLESSLY CRAPPY AS THEY HAVE BEEN and certainly not expecting that it, THE PRICE OF A BLEACHER SEAT THAT IS, would get to be as big (relatively speaking, LIKE COMPARED TO MY MORTGAGE) as it is, nor would it have given me some of the opportunities it has TO CONSIDER SUICIDE, CUTTING, HEROIN ADDICTION, AND ANY NUMBER OF OTHER METHODS FOR NUMBING THE UNRELENTING AGONY FROM FOLLOWING THIS CRAP-ASS TEAM.
I started for two simple reasons.

First, I wanted an outlet for my writing. My day job has me doing lots of godawful writing, NOT MIKE BASCIK GODAWFUL, BUT PRETTY BAD. Heretofores. Whereases. Convoluted clauses that wrap around themselves LIKE WILLY MO PENA TRACKING A FLYBALL. It's not a particularly fun type of writing, and I wanted something that I'd enjoy more AND NAIVELY THOUGHT THAT AT SOME POINT ROOTING FOR THE NATIONALS WOULD PROVIDE SOME ENJOYMENT. Something a bit more conversational. I didn't want to be stuck writing that boring way for the rest of my life. I wanted an outlet. LITTLE DID I KNOW THAT NOTHING IS MORE BORING TO WRITE ABOUT THAN A TERRIBLE BASEBALL TEAM THAT'S GOING NOWHERE.

Second, I didn't want to bore my girlfriend to tears AND DIDN'T REALIZE THAT IT WOULD BE ME LEFT IN TEARS AFTER WITNESSING AN ON-FIELD PERFORMANCE WHAT CAN ONLY BE CONSIDERED AN INSULT TO THE GAME OF BASEBALL. I didn't know a heck of a lot about the Expos. Writing about them would help me to learn, to help me discover the team, BUT DAMNED IF I COULDN'T WRITE WAR AND PEACE BEFORE DISCOVERING ANYTHING REDEEMING ABOUT THIS CRAP ASS TEAM AND THEIR INCOMPETENT MANAGEMENT. As I learn things, I want to share them IN THIS CASE BECAUSE MY THERAPIST SAYS ITS GOOD TO TALK IT OUT. Rather than boring her with details about Brad Wilkerson and TJ Tucker, I wrote about them here.

But things change, NOT THE NATIONALS WINNING PERCENTAGE, BUT FROM YEAR TO YEAR BOWDEN WOULD BRING IN SOME NEW BROKEN DOWN RECLAMATION PROJECTS. I've done plenty of writing these last few years. Lord knows how many books I've essentially written AND HOW THEY ALL END THE SAME. And finding new things to say ABOUT A TEAM SO COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT is tough. (I'd say 'interesting' things, too, but that'd imply that half my posts were AND LORD KNOWS THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH YOU CAN SAY ABOUT THE STEADY STREAM OF REPLACEMENT-LEVEL BUMS BOWDEN HAS BROUGHT IN HERE!)

It's time to move on TO SOMETHING THAT ISN'T COMPLETELY HOPELESS, LIKE TRYING TO MEMORIZE THE FIRST 1000 NUMERALS OF PI.

Thanks to everyone for reading, AND MY APOLOGIES THAT YOU SUCKERS HAVEN'T YET FIGURED OUT THAT THIS TEAM IS A WASTE OF TIME. Thanks for all the comments -- even the stupid ones THAT MADE THE CASE THAT THE LERNERS AREN'T TOTAL CHEAP BASTARDS OR THAT BOWDEN ISN'T AN INCOPETENT LOSER WHO'S FAILED AT EVERYTHING HE'S EVER DONE IN LIFE! And a special thanks to the friends I've made along the way, LIKE THE NICE PEOPLE AT THE CVS WHO FILL MY PROZAC PRESCRIPTION, something I certainly didn't expect when I put fingers to keyboard three-and-a-half years ago. CURSE THE DAY!!! But that's definitely been the most rewarding thing SINCE OBVIOUSLY NOTHING ON THE FIELD HAS BEEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT REWARDING IN ANY WAY.

I'll still be at the game WHEN THE YANKEES COME TO TOWN, eating my chili nachos. I'll still be reading and watching OTHER TEAMS THAT AREN'T A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME obsessively. I'll still be yelling at the wins (THAT'S 1010 WINS WHEN I CHECK THE SCORES THERE), and yelling louder at the losses -- oh, the losses! Let's just hope that, in the future, THE FAR, FAR DISTANT FUTURE, PERHAPS IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY, those become increasingly less common! YEAH RIGHT! GOTCHA AGAIN, SUCKERS!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/07/2008 8:50 PM

  • Wow. I'm watching the Nats-Houston game on TV and the second I finished reading your farewell message, the ump called a balk on Perez. Coincidence? I don't think so. Thanks a million. I will keep the link in an honrary spot on my "favorites" list for all time to come.

  • Jesus christ! WTF am I going to do now Chris? I can't read that complete homer crap over at 320, where do I go now? Thanks for everything.

  • You still haven't told me where they sell the FUCKING KETTLE CORN!!!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/07/2008 11:08 PM

  • Chris, as a relative newcomer to the Natosphere, I feel robbed. I wish I'd discovered your blog sooner.

Of course you owe your readers nothing. It is we who owe you immeasurably. We can only hope that you'll make the occasional guest appearance to share your analysis and humor in times of crisis. You know, like when the next Andruw Jones becomes a free agent and people need to be calmed...

By Anonymous Let Teddy win the presidents race., at 5/08/2008 12:07 AM

  • I 98 the rest of the comments on here. This has been the only Nats blog in which i actually look forward to what comes next...and now? (clicks over to Nats 320)...

    Fuck.

Thanks for all your hard work, for the invention of the StanSpeak translator, and for being the one who always told it like it was. You've made the past 4+ seasons much more enjoyable, and i hope you don't abandon this blog forever. You're one hell of a talented writer Chris, and i hope you at least keep this url, and i'll be sure to check in from time to time for (hopefully) the occasional update on what kind of shitcreek Bowden's got us paddling down.

    Peace brother.

  • All the above and more. Glad you're reclaiming your life but I will sorely miss the star of the Nats blogosphere. Your well-placed cynicism tagged you immediately as a scribe, an ink-stained wretch. You were a favorite among colleagues at my particular word factory. Well played Sir.

By Anonymous DCDingo, at 5/08/2008 8:45 AM

  • Farewell Chris, over the last few years you've made this UK Nationals fan and former Expo follower laugh, nod in agreement and say some some things that shouldn't be said in the middle of a very busy internet cafe.

Enjoy whatever you're doing next and God only knows where I'll go to get the proper lowdown on my team now - not Ladson surely?

    No, not Ladson.

By Anonymous Neil UK, at 5/08/2008 8:55 AM

  • Thanks for all the good work, Chris, you will be sorely missed. Come and visit us on Planet NJ from time to time.

  • D'Oh!

Great job. Great reading. Great insight.

    Average chili nachos.

    Good luck.

    By Anonymous Natty_Bob, at 5/08/2008 9:53 AM

  • Damn...sorry to see you go. I looked forward to reading your posts, especially your weekly statistical analysis. Best of luck, and I'll raise a chili nachos in your honor at the game Friday.

  • So sad. You are brilliant. Where do we go now?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/08/2008 3:03 PM

  • Let me also echo the where do we go now? This was my go to location for Nationals information.

Very disappointing, but it was good while it lasted.

    God speed.

  • Chris --

Thanks for all the hard work! Your blog really helped me get into the Nats and baseball when it came to town.

    Enjoy the newfound free time!

  • Happy trails. Leave knowing that your blog will be missed and their is a void in National's fandom now.

I say, who will keep the sacred memory of Joe Horgan's Nats career alive??????

As a final tribute, I adapt my official nom de intertubes in your honor sir.

By Anonymous Gal Revels in Pee, at 5/09/2008 5:25 PM

  • Hope you keep updated your "What to Read" section. I'll visit your blog just for that.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/10/2008 12:53 AM

  • I guess you've made up your mind and all, but is there any way you could simply post less often? Like once a week or so? You're very much missed.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/10/2008 2:32 PM

  • Chris, hope you're not gone forever -- you have to save us from SBF!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/11/2008 2:30 AM

  • Chris, you shoulda stayed in the blog bidniss. Did you see where SBF got to sit last night?!

By Anonymous Hendo, at 5/11/2008 7:38 AM

  • I don't think Stan would let Chris sit there even if he paid.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 5/11/2008 7:46 AM

  • Chris:

The Nats blogosphere is now empty without you. CP has always been my best "fans'-eye-view" Nats blog.

    You will be missed.

By OpenID ouij, at 5/11/2008 11:18 AM

  • I guess kissing arse has great benefits. When SBF is nothing more than a PR shill for the Nationals, he's now become part of the machine, rather than what makes you unique. I guess the team needed someone to help sell the high-roller seats.

Chris, I appreciate your honesty and telling it like it with the team. Maybe there's a chance down the road you'll come back.

    We need it.
