Manny Acta Is A Small, Asian Child
Today's WTF? story is courtesy of the NY Times. In an attempt to quantify manager's decision-making processes, some math profs at a college that obviously needs to have its federal grants taken away, has graphically illustrated them using something called a "Chertoff face". (I thought a Chertoff face was supposed to look like Sam the eagle?)

One of the more notable elements of the article is the comparison between Acta, Terry Francona and Eric Wedge made in the article, where Acta pretty sagely notes that his managerial strategy is mostly set by his players. I'm not sure whether this is a snide jibe at Bowden to get him some better material, but whatever the case, it reinforces the perception of Acta as a somewhat more nuanced thinker than Dusty Baker or Frank Robinson, for instance.
Manny's also gotten some great press lately at Baseball Prospectus, and by great, I mean that it seems like their writers are worshiping small bronze statues of the man. Actually, in general, with the opener, the new lineup, etc, Nats coverage seems significantly more positive and expansive than last year.
Here's hoping Redding can hold off the Phillies tonight/we can light up their bullpen again after falling behind early.
