Sure, Take Him!
I'm assuming that this is an April Fools' joke?
I'm sure the Tigers would just LOVE to have a closer who's nursing shoulder tendinitis (read: he's about to die!!!!). I'm going to go out on a limb and say that contrary to this report, those talks won't be heating up in the next couple o' days.
The word is, Detroit is tracking the Nats reliever [Chad Cordero] in case their bullpen falters them in the first half of the season. If that happens, then the Tigers would start serious trade talks for Cordero (provided he’s healthy and pitching well), the Nats closer since coming to Washington in 2005.
A source close to the Tigers said the team already talked to Nats General Manager Jim Bowden during spring training about Cordero. Look for those talks to heat up if the Nats are out of the race and the Tigers’ bullpen is struggling.

I'd love for the Tigers to take him too, but I'm betting a trade never happens. The Miguel Cabrera trade completely gutted the Detroit farm system and I would imagine that Bowden would ask for the world in exchange for Cordero. You never know, but I'm pretty skeptical.

Too true, with Camerin Maybin gone to Florida is there anyone else in Detroit's organization JimBow has a sufficient Man-Crush on to make this trade?

Oy.
The Tigers wouldn't trade the rights to Willie Hernandez for Cordero at this point.
That's the whole point -- trade speculation is silly at this point given Cordero's health issues.

am I the only one that was ticked off by this part of the story:
"Look for those talks to heat up if the Nats are out of the race and the Tigers’ bullpen is struggling."
This writer expects the Nats to be out of the race in the first half of the season. Idiot.

Hey Chris, what ever happened with Bowdens DWI?

e-
I'm happy with the writer just saying IF. That in itself is a major improvement in the reporting of the Nats prospects.
