NOW We're Talking

This is more like it!

Trade for him, let him stumble around in the giant LF in RFK -- hey, it worked for Hondo! -- for half a season, then let him patrol the smaller outfield at Geico Park until Nick Johnson breaks and he can play first.

No, I don't expect this to actually happen, and we don't have anything worth offering, but if you don't think the idea of this is making Bowden's leather pants tighten, you don't know Bodes.

  • This might be the only downside of fleecing Krivsky last time. Now there's no way he deals with PT Bowden for Dunn. Which, on balance, is probably just as well. Dunn patrolling LF will make Alfonso Soriano look like Willie Mays.

  • Ok, not so sure about this, Doesnt Dunns contract void if he gets traded? And if the reds are lookign for pitching, do we have any to give them? (the answer is no, unless they want speigner)

  • It'll never happen even if we had the trading chits necessary (which we don't) because of what Nate points out in the first column.

Now if he becomes a FA, I expect Bodes to be falling all over himself trying to sign him.

  • bummer re dunn's availability. why? b/c he's a hack in the OF and is said to be best suited as an AL DH. also, 1B mark texiera will be on the market as well.

all of which potentially dilutes the market for the defensively challenged yet best darn hitter in baseball, my main man, d-train young!

  • Rotoworld.com had a funny little comment about the report:

"Dunn and Brandon Phillips to the Nationals for Jon Rauch and Saul Rivera? Excuse us if we don't trust GM Wayne Krivsky to get a great return for Dunn..."

  • LOL anon, thanks for sharing that!

  • Yeah, they also don't know what we have in our system to acquire Elijah Dukes using.

ONE MORE THING: We don't need Adam Dunn. We have the next Dunn (well, technically Pat Burrell) in Chris Marrero.

I guess I'll use a username for this as it sounds better than anon.

  • We have several sore-arm pitchers the Reds would take. The medical records say John Patterson is about ready.
