The Ugliest Swing You'll Ever See

Just watch and wait. At about the :18 mark, Soriano's at the plate, swinging at a breaking pitch that would've been behind someone standing in the left-handed batters box.

Wow.

  • That's what I was talking about! (thanks for the "heavy lifting")

That's "classic" Soriano, the guy we all thought we were getting but didn't seem to be around in April and May. He was much more selective earlier this season, especially with 2 strikes it seemed. Now we've finally got the 25 HR .240 hitting guy we all feared.

  • It truly is bizarre. It started one weekend where they started challenging him inside with fastballs because he was so conscious of the outer half of the plate.

As he's tried working through it, making adjustments, his swing got all out of wack, and he started hitting opposite field grounders and popups to right.

Now, it seems like he's gone to a 'screw that' mentality and is swinging for the fences without any sort of clue or plan, apparently not realizing taht his earlier success was BECAUSE he was selective.

Trade his carcass. Trade them All!
