The Last Word On The Steroid Hearings

Despite sitting about 2 blocks from where the hearings were held, I avoided them like the plague, at least in person. (I watched the entire freakin' thing.)

I was thumbing through my New Yorker and found this recap of the hearing. It's probably the only thing that I've read that accurately portrays the tone and tenor of the interminable hearing.

Don't worry, it's short!

  • Good reference. Sometimes, C-SPAN needs a laughtrack for those hearings!

  • “I bumped into this reporter, and he was all important, like, ‘I’m here to cover the hearings,’ ” one man said. “Well, we have hearings here every day. ..."

Gotta be Jeremy Schaap. That guy's got a severe case of I'm Important. He must be related to CNN's Gary Tuchman, whose handling when the snipers decided to hit down near here was done by a good friend of mine in a local county police force. The friend set aside the special "no-talent ass-clown" designation for Tuchman, whose hightlight was sending his camera man on a job through the woods, "recreating the snipers' escape route."
