Barry's Back!

He's chatting at two.

Feel free to start peppering him with questions.

-- Why does Guzman stink?
-- How many double plays can one right-handed hitting platoon outfielder hit into?
-- How many doubles can one right-handed hitting platoon outfielder create with bad defense?
-- How's Vinny's knee/foot/shin?
-- Was Brendan Harris behind his injury(ies)?
-- Does Frank know what a double switch is?

Be Creative!

  • I'm up to at least 20 questions to Svrluga, we'll see how many actually make it.

  • There was a Tonya Harding-related question submitted.

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 1:48 PM

  • Mention Panera... the chance of inclusion go up astronomically

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 1:49 PM

  • No TV again tonight ... correct?

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 1:52 PM

  • No TV til Friday.

There are rumors that tomorrow's will be an ESPN day game, but I haven't seen anything.

    I'll be there anyway.

For the most part, UPN's only running weekend games.

  • Slowes/Shea tonight it is. I'm at the day game tomorrow

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 1:56 PM

  • It's not officially baseball season until you blow off your first day of work or class!

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 1:56 PM

  • You're in what section again? I'm in 417 (just to the first base side of home)

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 1:58 PM

  • 403. On the foul side of the RF pole

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 1:58 PM

  • If you have a cell ... email it to me ... there have been open seats at every game so far.

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:00 PM

  • I'm one of the 4 or 5 people under the age of 70 w/o a cell. And your email isn't listed anywhere anyway ;)

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:02 PM

  • 417 row 3 ... stop by

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:03 PM

  • [reading the chat] Bowden's obsession with getting a frontline closer boggles my mind. In terms of importance, that is clearly not a need by a nice-to-have

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:04 PM

  • I can understand the sentiment... but in a cost/benefit analysis, the bat or the starter are more sorely needed.

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:05 PM

  • [chat comment] How many times are people going to comment about the new look to the sports section?

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:09 PM

  • For as long as it allows them to plug how wonderful they all are in the chat!

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:09 PM

  • so far ... 2 questions

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:12 PM

  • I was just about to ask if you were from Rossyln! ;)

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:13 PM

  • I think he's optimistic on the TV deal. I'd be shocked if Comcast folded before the end of the season. They've got little incentive to put MASN on. Not THAT many people would switch to DTV.

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:15 PM

  • ding ding

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:15 PM

  • [chat comment]Can you let someone at RFK know that the sound system is dramatically too loud? It makes sitting through a game unpleasant.

He has nothing to do with this you nimrod.

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:17 PM

  • Come on... it's St. Barry. He just has to wave his magical reporter's notebook and it will be so!

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:18 PM

  • the obligatory Baltimore versus Washington DC question followed by an inane mascot question ... waste of time

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:22 PM

  • I bet the entire Sports Dept has got to be sick of the Nats-only crowd. I know I'm getting sick of them.

Who cares that the orioles get coverage? We're getting great coverage by both the Post and Times.

    I hate that sorta mentality.

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:22 PM

  • up to 4 now

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:23 PM

  • My problem with the mascot is that it's pretty top heavy. As a result, it's not really capable of doing anything cheer-leading wise. And it can't really do funny dances like the Phanatic.

It's just a meet-n-greeter that'd fit in with most receptions I've been to on the Hill.

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:23 PM

  • No credit on that one! It's Jeff Stone now, not Gillooly. ;)

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:24 PM

  • Agree with you on the mascot but I think it's only purpose is for the kids.

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:24 PM

  • I know but I'm guessing Barry would have missed the reference

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:25 PM

  • The Phanatic and the Bird are for kids too. But they can also get the crowd going. Oh well.

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:25 PM

  • Frank's politics?

My response: Midwest, go f&^% yourself this is a baseball chat

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:27 PM

  • It's loud, we get the point

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 2:27 PM

  • I'm guessing he's either an Avowed Socialist or a nmember of the John Birch Society

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:27 PM

  • Someone's cranky! ;)

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:28 PM

  • You've gotta start using weird place names!

    Kamloops, BC
    Gardiner, MT
    Saco, ME

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 2:33 PM

  • next time Chris

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 3:11 PM

  • Brian 17. Me 0!

I asked a question about Guzman not talking to the media. He didn't answer mine, but he addressed the issue.

    It's a moral victory!

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 3:12 PM

  • he has used practically every one of my questions ... I asked a few in a couple different ways ... there are only so many questions you can ask so early

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 3:13 PM

  • He didn't answer my question about having security escort people out of the park if they yell "O!" during the nat'l anthem. ;)

By Blogger Yuda, at 4/20/2005 3:40 PM

  • The number of cretins doing that that on Monday was far lower than Thursday or Sunday.

I'm up for something more along the lines of forced castration.

Or maybe that person has to stand in the beer and hotdog lines?

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 3:41 PM

  • By the way, Frank double-switched last night.

    I gave you props, yo.

I'll be in Section 543, Row 3, seats 1&2 at the "businessman's special" tomorrow. Stop by if you'd like the pleasure of meeting a real-life Nats blogger ;)

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 4/20/2005 3:42 PM

  • It's two nights in a row he's used the faux double switch, where he's just shuffled around pinch-hitters into the appropriate spot in the lineup.

I want to see one where he comes out to make a pitching change mid-inning when the pitcher's due to hit in the bottom half -- the traiditional DS. I'm still waiting!

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 3:44 PM

  • I think we have better odds of Cristian hitting for the cycle.

By Blogger Brian, at 4/20/2005 3:54 PM

  • He's already hit for the Guzman cycle -- grounder to third, grounder to second, grounder to first, grounder to short.

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 3:57 PM

  • Harris is hitting 238/319/357 in Nawlins -- now would not exactly be an opportune time for him.

By Blogger Yuda, at 4/20/2005 4:25 PM

  • Guess everyone's at the game, but I just thought I'd add that I'm watching my first inning of the Nats on TV (thanks rain in St. Louis! thanks ESPN bonus live-look-in!), and Vidro just homered!

By Blogger Basil, at 4/20/2005 7:57 PM

  • I thought about making a thread, but no one was around, I thought!

By Blogger Chris Needham, at 4/20/2005 8:21 PM

  • I fixed my computer apparently (I never thought I'd say those words!), so I've been listening and working on a post of my own. Come on, Cordero!

By Blogger Basil, at 4/20/2005 9:41 PM

  • Hell yeah, Cordero!

Man, Charlie was pumped. He was treating it like a pennant race in the ninth inning. I love it!
