Acceptance
My wife watched the last two innings of this one with me, perhaps the first time she's actively watched a game with me in, like, three years.
Her thoughts:
"Hanrahan looks scared."
"Manny looks really stupid."
"Manny looks like he has no clue how to change anything."
etc.
I'm fine with the loss. I'm at the point where the losing is fun again. I didn't sit there cursing, so much as laughing at the absurdity of this all. This team is totally Dada, and I'm cool with that.
Let's keep the losses coming. Keep 'em coming in spectacular fashion. I can learn to love a loser if they're so spectactular and interestingly bad. Keep it up, Nats!

I actually got to a similar--I like to think Zen--place myself after the walk to load the bases in the 8th. I knew a second grand slam was coming, and I was okay with it.
Three straight seasons of being a Nats fan for me. Three straight disastrous Aprils. At this point it's either Enlightenment or insanity

There is no longer any reason to think rationally about this team or to use logic to manage them. Probability says one thing and the Nats find a way to defy those odds, almost like they are trying to blow up the curve.

I admire those of you who have achieved that zen-like acceptance. I think mine is at least a few games off, mostly because I only read the recaps (don't get MASN afterall). I look forward to the day when that zen acceptance overcomes me.

I recommend 1550 WFAN or Gameday Audio. The examples of those wise masters Charlie and Dave helps set any young novice on the path towards acceptance that all is suffering and the best a Nats fan can seek is acceptance of this fact. Find peace, young Nats fan!

I've felt the same way about the Redskins the past, oh, 10 seasons. If you're going to go down, go down in flames i say!

This bullpen is an absolute disaster...can it get any worse? The Nats can't expect to win any games until they solidify the bullpen.
Even on nights where the hitting comes through, the pitching always seems to lag :o(

YES!!! Finally, kindred spriits! Indeed, if you are going to be bad, do it in style. Once you accept, it becomes fun. I say let's get the karma going and cheer them on to breaking the '62 Mets record for futility. So far, so good. They are on pace.

On pace with the 40-and-120 New York Mets? Hell, we're on pace with 31-game winner Denny McLain in 1968! I too have somehow come to accept Manny's cluelessness, Dukes running the bases like Helen Keller on crack, Gas Can Hanranhan's ninth-inning explosions and Dunn's whiffathon with men on base. Five wins a month for six months equals 30-and-132. Maybe throw in a couple of extra wins for hustle: 32-and-130. Go for it, guys!
