I'm Sure Glad

that the front office did everything they could do to numb us to the losses and assure us that this season doesn't matter and, by extension, that we shouldn't really pay attention to what's going on this year.

Cause if I were, that one might hurt.

Yeesh. When did Joey Eischen start throwing with his right hand?

  • So, is it better to just get creamed most nights, or to be in the fight most nights even though you lose most of those.

During the first two weeks of the season I was sure I knew what the answer was.

And I think this is still better than that.

    Right?

    Right?

  • Roborumor is reporting a possible extension for Young in the neighborhood of 2 years/$6M.

  • Hahaha.
Check out the team page for today.
Under tonight's matchup it says pitcher TBA, and there is no photo available. Maybe if I show up early enough they'll let me pitch????

First-class organization all the way, baby.

  • Here's what I least understand about last night -- There's a very good left-handed pitcher throwing for the opposition, we know that we have a rookie making his ML debut today -- in a day game following a night game, Manny Acta said there's no way Schneider wouldn't start for this kid's debut.... So why in the world didn't Flores start last night against the lefty? Why play Schneider in night game/ day game combos, when it's obvious the day game was the priority and the night game was against a lefty?

  • Acta uses the same system every day, all the time, this way he does not have to feel anything this year....just sit back and relax and wait till 2009.....that was the plan right?

He always does the exact same thing...count to 100 pitches, replace Church and Young in the 8th with a lead.....just checking off the boxes all year!

  • Could someone who knows the game answer this: On that 9th inning fly to left-center, isn't it an unwritten rule that the CF gets yielded to? Shouldn't Church have backed off? If there is no "rule" like this, then the fielders are asking for collisions and dropped balls.

  • Like Manny, but it's idiotic to play Schneider last night against a lefty (for 14 innings) and then start him today in 90 degree heat. Have no idea why they are running Schneider into the ground when Flores has proved to be surprisingly capable.

Langerhans could not gotten to the ball. He ran into Church after Church had caught it. I know many here don't like Nook but he would have been a step closer and been in position to call Church off. Ryan Langerhans blows.

  • The Post's article said Langerhans called for it, but Church couldn't hear him.

  • Flores is actually starting this afternoon's game.

  • Actually, from the Post article: "'I was calling it the whole way,' Langerhans said. 'I could barely hear him,' Church said."

Barely hear him? But he still heard him, right?

And then there's this from Langerhans in the Times: "I guess I just braced myself for a collision and didn’t extend my arm long enough to catch the ball. [The crowd noise] makes it tough, but that’s still no excuse. We should have come up with the play.”

Langerhans, at least, seems to think it was Church's fault.
