One Year Ago

It was roughly one year ago before the Nationals had a GM that Tony Tavares was running the show all by himself. While the free agent market was beginning, TT took it upon himself to start the player negotiations. One of the first moves he made was deciding not to re-sign Tony Batista.

Batista ultimately earned a 2-year $15 million deal from some wacked-out team in Japan.

Tavares made the right decision. (despite Vinny!) Batista's team released him yesterday with one year left on his contract. No matter what Mr. Wolfe said, Tony, you can't come home again.
