Jose Guillen Out Three Months
Per Boz, via a press release that should appear on nationals.com soon.... [Will wonders never cease? Here it is]
Jose Guillen has been recommended to have surgery to repair a damaged tendon in his wrist. The team is getting a second opinion, but it doesn't seem like there would be much to debate. The question probably isn't 'should he', but 'how long'.
MLB.com had talked about how he was due to have an MRI yesterday:
Just baseless speculation here, but I wonder if any of the damage was from him having to alter his swing because of the torn labrum he tried to play through like a 'real man' last season. I hope not....
Michael Tucker is now almost a certainty to make the roster. Sure, throw another $800K down the pit. Although, this could open up a spot for Brandon Watson? We'll find out.
UPDATE -- MLB.com has a story up now. Nothing new, at least. Think Bowden's on the phone to Cinci yet? We know he loves Wily Mo Pena.

MLB.com had talked about how he was due to have an MRI yesterday:
The Nationals told Guillen to back off from swinging the bat for a few days to see if the pain subsides and the swelling goes down. Guillen has spent most of Spring Training hitting off a tee.
"I don't know where this is coming from. I have a lot of soreness there. I probably overdid it," Guillen said. "We took the MRI today. It has been very, very sore. It's keeping me away from doing some stuff that I want to do."

Time for Billy Beane to fleece Bowden with a Nick Johnson for Jay Payton deal.

Have we reached the point where it's safe to say that '06 is officially a lost cause?

Given the way the offseason went, I'm not sure it was ever 'found' in the first place! ;)
Guillen's injury certainly is going to make it hard to repeat last year's record. Just like last year, we'd have needed about 15 things to go right to have a sniff of competing in September. Last year about 10 of them went right. Chances are that wasn't going to happen again anyway.
Still, with the stadium crap, Soriano, Bowden, the crappy ticket office, and about 1,000 other things, it's hard to like this team very much

Chris has advised to take it easier on the Nats, but they are such an inviting target.

Hate the GM and the bad manager and the miserable SOB players (oh, and MLB, Dupuy, Selig, et al)
But love everything else, ok? ;)

Actually, Bowden's interview on MLB.com showed him to be remarkably sane. And I don't think Tom Boswell wrote "SWAGGER" in his online chat today.

You're falling for the mistake of actually believing what Bowden says? We did that at first, too.
I've taken to calling him PT Bowden, because he's proven to be more of a huckster salesman on many of these things.
There's an amazing disconnect between what the man says, and what actually happens.
