Inquirer To Guillen: Go To Hell

Well, maybe he wasn't that harsh, but that's the NY Post version of the Nationals Inquirer blurb about our man-child, Jose Guillen.

Along the same lines, Distinguished Senators had a look at Frank Robinson and his whole role in the fiasco. His is worth the read too.

I'm going to let them do the heavy lifting for me. Their views are essentially my views.

  • On Gullen coming unglued on the field from what some of the local Fox Sports and ESPN reported on it was over something John Lackey said to him in regards to a feud between Guillen and several memebers of the Angel's Pitching staff (mainly Washburn, Lackey and Donnelly), that is still there from last year. I wouldn't count on Guillen's turn around either, there are 7 teams over the past 7 years that decided his talent wasn't worth it, pattern shows he'll wear out his welcome again. Its also worth noting it wasn't jsut the helmet throwing issue at the end of ast season, it was an series of club house problems over the season. Lastly on Guillen there is the great quote that is frequently played on ESPN Radio given by Guillen, when asked about his former team, "I just got one word: Be Careful" Well its actually two, but who is going to tell Jose that?

  • Yeah, you're not going to get much of a defense of Guillen from me here. I'd read the Inquirer piece I linked to. He's pretty harsh on him, but he's also accurate. Guillen acted like an ass. There's no disputing that.

And I know what you mean about the Guillen thing.

A month or so ago they picked up his option for next year, along with trumpeting how he's turned over a new leaf, and all that. Blah blah blah.

It makes no sense to me why they'd do that when the guy's so volatile.

I root for the guy to come through, but I don't particularly like him.

And, I suspect, his teammates aren't particularly fond of him either. But, that's just baseless speculation mostly.
