Watson Being Churched

Per WTEM (Thanks, Brian et al), Brandon Watson has been optioned to Triple-A New Orleans, and Ryan Church has been recalled.

Does Church play full time or does Frank give Byrd more PT? We'll find out.

More later....

Here's the AP. They've also sent Wiki Gonzalez down, and recalled Brendan Harris.

Harris had played a few games at short, perhaps they're going to look at him instead of the stifftastic Royce Clayton? At the very least, this'll give Ryan Zimmerman some time off.

  • Navil!

Actually, even though 6% of the season is done, projecting the current record over the year (32-130) is the same as expecting the Nats to hit one home run a game ad infinitum. Things will have to get back to equilibrium.

  • I saw Brendan Harris play short stop at Viera and he was very shaky. Clayton is decent in the field but can't hit a lick. Damien Jackson can't field and he can't hit a lick either.

  • Unrelated, but interesting: Bonds is being investigated for perjury. A perjury indictment will mean suspension, no home runs :) Lets hope this moves quickly and badly for Bonds.

  • Church is up just in time for Easter. I'm not sure I want to know how he's going to celebrate it.
